About the Role

  • Exciting opportunity to become an integral part of our growing Technical and Studies team
  • The role would be working 5 and 2 roster based in the Perth office

The opportunity is for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our team reporting to the Manager Technical and Studies. In this role, you will work alongside the Principal Geotechnical Engineer and be responsible for developing geotechnical engineering inputs into underground and open pit mine studies. The main accountabilities will include:

  • Planning of geotechnical drilling and data collection programs
  • Management of consultants for geotechnical data capture
  • Rock mass characterization for input into excavation stability analysis
  • Conducting stability analysis for open pit and underground mine excavations
  • Management of relevant geotechnical consultants
  • Development of technical reports detailing the geotechnical design outcomes

In addition, this role will provide site support and mentoring of the operation geotechnical teams across the Nickel West operations.

About You

To be considered for this role it is preferred you will have the following skills and experience

  • A degree (bachelor or higher) in Mining, Civil or Geological Engineering. Applicants with a degree in Geology plus relevant training and industry experience will be considered;
  • Experience in geotechnical data collection and testing programs;
  • Experience in geotechnical design for open cut or underground mining;
  • Exposure to instrumentation and monitoring methods;
  • Operational experience working in either an open cut or underground environment;
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to significantly contribute to an experienced team.
